Under the tent of Sawatari company, Sharon started calculating. since she's a merchant's daughter i though she have the knowledge of reading, writing, arithmetic and basic bookkeeping.

「However, a sluggish way of doing calculation......」

Because the temporary shop doesn't have any tables i spread a clothe on the stone pavement, a stick which has indentations of length and width is laying on it, they seem to use this wooden stick in doing calculations in this world.  

Sharon said that she'll try to estimate the profit outlook in one month, but she seems to struggle.

I wonder if it's no good for me to just put out a rough estimates. Watching the calculation stick going up and down is quite irritating. I  think demonstrating an example and indicating the answer is faster.

「Sharon. The sales of one month is 2,190 gold coins and subtracting the 17 gold coins that was used for expenditure, it would be 2,173 gold coins.」

「Eh?」

Sharon began to calculate to calculate in a hurry after hearing me. She's breakng cold sweats .

Then assuming that were selling it for 1 silver coin then the income would be 2,160 gold coins in one month. I would also continue to make saltpeter for the dynamite and that would be additional 30 gold coins in 1 month. Total of 2,190 gold coins. It should be good until here」

「Well, errr .., Yes. 」

Sharon's eyes shows that she understands it and she nodded deeply. It's good.

「the expenses of our clothes and meal. Regrettably only one set of clothes isn't enough, i'd like to add to new clothes and underwear later this month, five pieces of silver coins in one month for every person. The food expenses, because i would be worried to only eat monster's meat  i'll add two big copper coins for two white breads.  I also want you to consume vegetables because your on the period of rapid growth but let's rely on Viola on picking up wild vegetables for the time being.」

Though i want to actually buy proper vegetables from a farmhouse, but it's more expensive than i thought. For the time being i want you to endure until i have a little leeway in the budget.

I see, for such calculation it took too much time. I sigh.

「It can't be help  even if i shave the budget. Sharon, the body is the capital,      It can't work without eating good nutrition.」

 pebbles are mixed in a poor quality of bread. Their teeth will be damaged by eating inferior goods, and would cause unnecessary treatment cost.

Sharon is a leader. She will decide the living expenses of the slave girls. I think that modesty is a virtue, but it would be a problem if she shave the necessary expenses too much.

Sharon was rummaging the calculation stick in a disordered way while bawling a breath but the calculation finally ended and dropped her shoulder wearily.

It seems like Sharon went to a arithmetic school in the imperial capital. In shot, common people in this world can receives a decent education.

Mental calculation to this degree is only natural to me.

 if it's called high grain of education in this world's level, though this just a typical standards of Japanese education.

「It's just a rough estimates so it's not a big deal. I'll also teach the ways of arithmetic to Sharon」

Ways to use the brain or perhaps i should say, it is dependent in the way of thinking it will be beneficial to teach her.

But there is also room for improvement for the less-efficient wooden calculator.

I must be able to promote efficiency if i make a Japanese abacus. (TN: or called Soroban )  A ledger which let you write the procedure of the experiment, It is regrettable that there is no concept of zero to use in the decimal system. It should be convenient to teach them Arabic numerals. Because it's a firm management, i also have to teach them a double-entry book keeping.

I teach it to Sharon one by one while adding improvement to the system and the tool, there are cases that i have to leave work, there is a lot of things that i have to do.

Considering if give a rough estimate , I understand that the revenue limit will makes no progress.

「After all, i have no choice to make more gun powered so we can earn.」

I don't know how much years will it take until the company of slave girls will be dependent only to soap.  Comparing the required time and labor of the soap i reached a conclusion that the production of gunpowder which is under financing assistance should be increased.

The tent where we are currently staying became longer, It's much better than sleeping out in the open.  I'll be worried if the slave girls catch a cold. I'd like to build a shop quickly with a reliable floor and roof.

Perhaps the earl became sympathetic because i have to earn the living expenses of the slave girls.

Louise who keeps handling the monster subjugation request in the town of Est and who is the one obtaining the materials and the reward money, together with the apprentices Suzanne and Claudia (Viola is picking herb behind their back.)

Saltpeter making is a difficult work.

gathering the soil and the feces of the animal and boil it with potassium carbonate (Yes it's the lye which is being use in soap making) and the concentration will crystallize it, dissolve it again and boil it and will become crystallize saltpeter again.

It's easy to say but the actual work is very serious. A large amount of earth is carried and mixed it with water  and boils it, it's heavy labor. For a young girl it is a hard labor.

Furthermore, in preparation for drying up in the future, you have to collect human and animal feces and build a saltpeter cabin.

The smell is severe and it's too dirty It's a work that even i got fed up but I'm reluctant to let a slave girl do it.

Roru has a brown skin and brown hair she is a mine worker's daughter. She is shorter than other children and her ear is pointed out she's a black fairy, a dwarf.

A female dwarf though i heard they're physically inferior compared to a mal, but it may be only her who had the aptitude among this member.

From the work to gather suitable soil, I taught her the trick of saltpeter making and she understood it, Roru's quick wittedness showed it's effectiveness while silently and steadily breaking down the process of the work.

It's going well, She devote herself to work diligently, perseverance is needed in making Saltpeter.

Roru, forms a line where she can continuously produce saltpeter, I entrust the work to her while i continue to observe.

I'll praise her she does well, even if it's no good i won't be angry at her.

After i taught the method of Saltpeter making to Roru, I decided to come back to Ross village with Lyle-sensei.

Though managing the company is also important, it would be problematic to neglect the work of a Secretary. Just because sensei isn't complaining to anything, i still have to consider it.

Of course I also take the opportunity to peddle. The covered wagon with Saltpeter has also the goods that are insufficient in the village (Clothes, Salt, Miscellaneous goods, etc. )

I was worried about the firm because there only the slave girls, but i decided to ask a request to Louise to look after them in my absence.
